have come in for this frosting...
I have felt a little funny sharing it since it is loaded with lots of (ahem) well....., lard, but you know when you are eating frosting, chances are it isn't full of broccoli, right?!
Here is what I do.
COOKIES AND CREAM ICING
1 c shortening (room temp)
1 c butter (room temp)
Cream together.
2 - 3 tsp vanilla (I like to use the really good vanilla, if you use the good stuff you will only need to use 2 tsp).
Add vanilla to creamed mixture.
2 lbs. powdered sugar
Slowly add to mixture.
10 Oreos, middles removed and the cookies crushed** (What you do with the middles is up to you! No one will ever know!)
Add Oreos to the mix and stir until combined
1/4 c cold milk
Add milk to the icing
**If you would like to pipe the frosting, use a blender or food processor to crush the oreos, they turn out much finer than crushing by hand. If you prefer a chunkier cookie frosting, crush the Oreos in a Ziploc bag with a rolling pin (less messy).
I like to top it all off with the mini Oreos but only because I think they are super cute...
of course, I happen to like anything that comes mini-sized!
Enjoy!
Everything Marilyn makes is low-fat and good for you!
