Let Them Be Little

EVER SINCE THE STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS

I HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY WORRIED.

Are there things in the Union for which I am worried?  Yes.

But I won't address those.

This worry is directed at our home

and

MY report card as a mother.

Keep in mind, please,

that Megan spends most of her hours in the gym.

So, if it doesn't have to do with gymnastics, or our family, or the piano, or gymnastics, or her friends, or school, or gymnastics,

she may not be exactly up to speed.

Meg arrived home from gymnastics during the State of the Union Address, which of course I was watching...because I care about our current affairs...  I do!  Really!

Remember that while I tell you what happened next.

She looked at the TV and saw this image:

And said, "Oh, is that his dad behind him?!"

"Uh, no Meg, that would be our Vice President, Joe Biden."

Flabbergasted, I tell you.  Flabbergasted.  I couldn't believe that my child just asked that. 

And seriously, HOW FUNNY!?!  

HA!  I am still chuckling over this one!

Now, if, oh, say...Mary Lou Retton, or Shawn Johnson, Nastia Liukin or Jordan D. (her local favorite) held a position such as Vice President, Speaker of the House, or a Senate seat...she would be much more educated when it came to politics, I guarantee it!

Oh Meggie...we love you!

HAITI

All of the sadness in Haiti is really bothering me.

Smash and I keep trying to find a way we could get there and help.

The children, oh, the children!  Those poor little people who are now left without family.  There were a lot of orphans in that tiny country before the quake and now...how many will there be?!  It's unbearable!

There have been many miraculous events in the days following this disaster.  I pray that they will receive many more.
