ON THE PRAIRIE.
And in Dallas!
Little House, the musical.
Thanks to Emily and Jonathan, I was able to enjoy an evening out with my girls in the big D while feeling totally at home on the Prairie...so to speak.
For Mother's Day, I received tickets to attend Little House on the Prairie (the Musical) with my two darling daughters.
Jonathan and Smash were going to be out of town for the weekend so it was the perfect time for a little girl's night out!
The girls and I walked into the Music Hall together and I couldn't have felt more happy. I was accompanied by two of the sweetest girls around. They were both so excited and thrilled to be there. We had dinner in the dining hall just before the show began.
I enjoy them both so much.
They talk about funny things with me - and I love every moment of it! I very much enjoy seeing the world through their eyes, even still. Looking at the world through the eyes of one's very own child just never gets old, not to me anyway.
The musical was energetic and fun. We enjoyed seeing Melissa Gilbert perform in person!
But it is hard to not see her as "Half-Pint" or "Laura" even though she has aged. And we really missed Michael Landon as Pa; who could fill those shoes? I always loved Caroline Ingalls played by Karen Grassle (she reminds me so much of one of my Aunts) that I missed her as well. But the girl who played Laura in the musical did a fantastic job. They all did great. The choreography was clever and really enjoyable. What a treat!
At the end of the night, Meg was looking around for Melissa Gilbert and was sad that she couldn't find her. When I told her that we wouldn't get to meet her in person, she looked so very disappointed. Meg held up her program and said, "Oh, I really wanted to meet her! I wanted to tell her how cute she was when she was a little girl! And ask for her autograph. Oh, and tell her she is still cute because I don't want to be rude and tell her she was only cute when she was little!"
For the first time in my life I wished (in that moment) that I was an important person in some respect, that I was a powerful woman with the kind of clout that would have allowed me to escort my daughters back stage so that Meg could get an autograph and tell Melissa Gilbert that she is cute!

I wish cell phone photos would turn out better! But at least we have photos!
