Congratulations to Smash! He has had a phenomenal week! He has worked hard and those efforts have really paid off.
He received his results from the TAKS test. He not only passed but was commended and then we found out that he scored a 100! Wow! Way to go Smash!
If you do not live in Texas, you may not understand the grandness of this news. Even if you live in Texas, you may not understand. I knew it was a big deal but didn't realize just how truly important these scores were until I started working at the school. He has really improved himself this year. I am also grateful to his teachers at Isbell who have gone the extra mile to help him realize his potential!
The next good news, he scored a 100 on his math benchmark!
Then he found out that he has been chosen to be the classroom representative for student council. He was really hoping to be chosen! He had to write down why he would be a good candidate for that honor, then have 3 teachers fill out a recommendation form for him. My friend, Nurse Stacy, had been asked by him to give a recommendation. She told Smash that he should probably have a teacher fill out his paperwork. She wrote the nicest note to his teacher though, recommending him informally. This is her note...
After all of those recommendations and teacher scores were in, the teachers tallied up the points earned and then chose the top three students to be voted on by their peers. His teacher called him today to let him know that he had been chosen! He is at home sick...:(
He also received a score of 100 on his oral report on Italy.
Finally, as if this week hadn't already been wonderful enough, his artwork has been chosen to be displayed for Youth Art Month at an FISD art event.
It has truly been a SMASHing week!
WAY TO GO SMASH!!!!! What an incredible kid, Mar!!! It shows what love and encouragement can do for our children when we help them feel comfortable in their own shoes! Love, Me
