I am grateful that Ashton continues to have wonderful things happen for him at his new school.
He really wanted to run for student council but he was apprehensive because he didn't know if the other kids would vote for him since he is new. I encouraged him to fill out the necessary paperwork, get the teachers signatures and then see how he felt about running. He did. Smash came home saying that everyone was running for student council including him. I was so happy that he would try even though he was nervous about the outcome. We had really good talks about the importance of being a good leader, what it means to be a true leader and that anyone can make a difference at anytime.
It surprised us both when he was elected to student council! He is so excited!
Ashton is a good leader. Other people like him and he likes people! He looks out for kids who need a little extra attention or friendship. He will stand up for someone who is being bullied or hurt. He is also a fun friend to have! He really cares about the people and environment arond him.
I am grateful for these innate qualities of his. I hope they will stay with him as he continues to grow.
