These recipes are keepers!!! Thanks, Aunt Mar!!

Kim

Ok Miss Mar, you make the rest of us look so cheesy for using store bought stuff! Good grief! But hey, I am least excited that I am getting to learn from the Grand Master Chef of Mar's Cooking School already (even though you are so far away). What a blessing to have such a "yummy" talent!

Grandma Joan

Dear Mar: They look delicious. I'll have to try them. Tell me why I use unsalted butter. It is OK to use regular butter? Thanks for the recipe. I'll let you know howy they turn out.

Stacy

Okay, once I get moved, this will be the first "real" item I cook. Can't wait. Happy almost Birthday Smash!

Mar~

Joan,

In reference to the butter, salt vs. unsalted, it probably really comes down to preference. However, the reasons I use unsalted are mainly these, 1. You have much more control over the salt added to your dish if you use unsalted. It is easier to add than it is to take away. 2. Probably my main reason for using unsalted is that it is usually more fresh than butter with salt. Since salt is a preservative, butter with salt is on the shelves longer. Unsalted butter will usually have a more fresh cream flavor than the other.

Hope that helps a bit,
Mar~

Grandma Joan

Thanks for the recipe
I have to say
Mine weren't easy
And they were just O.K
I followed the recipe
It could have been the light
Or maybe my measurements
Weren't just right.
I made the caramel
It wasn't very thick
Maybe I made it
A little too quick
I used it anyway
And saved the rest
To have on Ice cream
It's going to be the best.
I'm just not the cook
I used to be,
You'll just have to come back
To Brigham City.

Mar~

Joan,

I'm sorry that you didn't like them and that they didn't seem to turn out wonderful for you.
We love them!
Maybe I should make a batch for you.
If anyone else has tried them, please let me know if you enjoyed them. I hope they did turn out wonderfully well for someone!

Valerie Chandler

You can bet I'm trying these things. Everything that comes from your kitchen, Marilyn, is ART! :) Yum

Jonathan

I think I see a request for a repeat performance Mar - Do you think Mom or Dad wrote the little ditty???

JD

Mar~

OHHH!

I didn't even understand that it WAS a little ditty! Now I do wonder if your dad is just asking me to come back to Brigham and cook some more!

Cute!
