OF RAIN on my windows.
(Did I have you thinking I awoke to the pitter-patter of little feet?)
We had an ACTUAL cool (not cold) front come into our neck of the woods; we've been having cool-fronts coming through the area that have brought us 80 degree temps. But today, it is raining and truly cool outside, it feels like autumn.
As soon as I had all of the children off to school, I stopped by the store and picked up a few needed ingredients to make some warm, comfort foods for our dinners this week. Soups, white chicken chili, etc.
I am excited! I have decided to take the day off and cook all day. If we happen to have a showing on this very cool and rainy day, (which I am sure we won't), I will leave out a bowl of soup with a note saying, "The soup's on me, enjoy!"
I had other things that I needed to attend to today, things I have been putting off, things I will be putting off once again. I will just have to work that much harder and faster the rest of the week. (Tomorrow is another day). Today is the only day that I can stay home and cook and bake all day.
I can't wait for the kids to come home to a warm, cozy home, with the smells of my kitchen having been in overdrive all day. They will be thrilled! I can already hear their voices as they burst through the door and exclaim, "Mom! Oh, that smells GOOD!"
I love it when that happens!
My thoughts today are not only on food; I am thinking of my traveling husband and hoping he will find a good hot meal today. And I am continually thinking of my really good friend Stacy, today is her day...actually, it will be her baby's birthday! At some point today, she will get to meet and hold her baby boy. I can't even tell you how much I wish I could be there. I hope all will go well and both Stacy and baby will be healthy and happy.
Jonathan, are you wishing to be home a little more this week yet?
No worries, I'll save you a couple of bowls; of course, I'll have to label them, "Nathan, stay out, these are for your father!"
Sounds wonderful. Can I come over for all the homemade goodies? I woke up this morning to 18 degrees outside. BRRR!! I think I will also be doing some cooking today!

Do you need dinner guests tonight?
I'd settle for that foodie blog you've been tempting us with...

Mar,
You are absolutely marvelous! I cannot wait to get home! That will be the only hot meal I have today... McD's tastes like cardboard - even with salt
Right now trying to figure out how to leave early! - don't worry, I'll drive the speed limt.
Love you,
JD
PS. I do love the pitter patter of little feet.

I have to say that your blog is such a highlight of my day. I just got to thinking that I'm hungry, preferably for some homemade Mar food!

It was a beautiful day for me!!! Although I really wish you were here to see Bryan, and then I also wouldn't have eaten that hospital food! Ha ha. I didn't get to eat ANYTHING till about 8pm. It's okay, my mind really wasn't on food...
Love and miss you TONS!!!!
