FOR OUR WEEKEND.
Laying around...
My poor girls were both sick this weekend.
I felt so sad for them, they were really knocked down by this gunk that is going around.
Megan has already been on antibiotics since a week and a half ago; when I took her into urgent care for an ear infection.
Still, her ears have been bothering her among other things this weekend.
Emily had the same icky head cold, dizziness, and just felt really yucky.
They hardly even moved an inch the entire weekend.
Megan didn't feel well enough to go and work out with her team on Saturday, she had to miss a birthday party for a friend as well.
We thought if she could rest all day that maybe she would feel better that evening and could attend the annual Daddy-Daughter Dance that our town hosts each year. This year's theme was "A Carousel of Dreams."
It was really her dream to attend with her dad, she waits all year for this event.
Last year was especially wonderful because Meg's cousin Alyssa surprised Megan with a visit on the Daddy-Daughter weekend, and I just happened to have 2 extra tickets for the ball.
But as the evening grew closer and it became time to get ready for her date with dad, it was apparent that this year it just was not going to be possible. No matter how much she wanted to, she could not make herself feel better. She really tried, she got up, took a shower, and got dressed in her brand new dress that was purchased for the occasion. While I was doing her hair, she rested her head on the bathroom counter, she could hardly stand up; when I told her that if she wasn't well, she did not have to attend the dance with her dad, she burst into tears! Big crocodile tears.
She couldn't make the decision to stay home, she wouldn't. But she was clearly not well enough to go, so I had to tell her that she needed to stay home and go to bed. She seemed relieved that she could go back to bed, but she was definitely very disappointed that her favorite annual outing with dad was not happening this year.
Climbing the walls...
That's what the boys did all day Saturday.
Actually, they went rock climbing. Smart boys! When they go, they really go...they left in the morning, packed a lunch and came home late that night. They love it!
The girls were still in bed on Sunday.
I stayed home with them and disinfected the main floor of our home. I asked the girls to stay upstairs in their rooms so I could get everything in the main living areas all clean. (I found Megan on the main floor, though, sleeping in my bed. One of the sweetest images, a little child in a huge bed!) I left her there and continued to clean around her...
I also needed to do some baking for an event happening at our home that evening for the youth group from church. I made cream puffs, some filled with vanilla (colored pink), and the rest filled with chocolate. I also dipped strawberries in chocolate, some white, the rest milk chocolate. Every thing looked so pretty, and still very Valentine-ish, which is what I was hoping to accomplish since our special speakers came to talk to the youth about present day love vs. Christlike love. Very good! Good food, good topic, good speakers, and lots of good youth!
Monday the boys were climbing again.
The girls were still recovering but felt so much better.
Phew! I was beginning to feel like climbing the walls, and we were all tired of laying around.
(Sorry, no photos from the weekend).
So sorry the girls have been so sick. There are all sort of nasty bugs going around. I feel like we haven't been truly well around here since prior to Christmas. Meg, I am sooo sorry that you had to miss your dance with dad. I know it is something you love. Maybe when you are better you both can head out on a little date to make up for it.
Where's the mouth-watering pictures of the goodies??

Megan, Your spirit said yes, but your body said no!
I hope you danced a dance in your dreams with me.
Smash and Nathan have been really enjoying the climbing wall - so have we - they need to expend their energy!
