UNBELIEVABLE.
Unbelievable for Texas, most unbelievable in March.
An entire winter without snow, until now.
Monday night it surprised us after such wonderfully warm temperatures.
First the temps dropped dramatically, bringing on thunder storms and tornado watch weather, then with another drop of the temps, snow.
We were all home (a rarity) together on Monday night. The younger two were getting ready for bed, the older two were working on homework.
Nathan was the first to notice the flakes falling and when he informed the rest of us, we didn't believe him.
One look outside and everyone was scrambling for coats and gloves.
They didn't even bother to change out of their pajama's, they just added some warm layers and went out for some really chilly and slushy fun.
In the morning, the kids had to run out and check on their snowman before they left for school.
By Noon, this is what the poor little guy looked like; after school, he was already gone.
We made the most of that Monday night snowfall; thinking that would be our fluke storm of the year.
It wasn't.
Tuesday brought the return of our Spring weather; Thursday brought another crazy storm through our area, and this time, it was the real fluff!
The really wet and heavy snow that is often associated with a Spring storm, only it was unbelievably here in TX.
The kids were elated when they got out of school and found already a few inches on the ground.
The kids got quite creative with this guy, he is two-sided. Nathan was the master mind behind this side, the Super Snow-guy, and Smash was the master mind behind the other.
This side reminds me of the old man in the Pixar short film, the one where he plays chess by himself in the park.
And of course we enjoyed plenty of yummy hot cocoa. Nathan's cup of cocoa was especially cheery, it is smiling back at him. :)
I have been wondering lately how my children will adjust to the snow in CO when they find out that the world does not come to a complete halt every time the flakes fly there.
A photo of my little freezing pansies. (Brr...I know just how they feel, chilled but still cheerful.)
What super duper fun!! You guys haven't seen the real stuff for quite awhile. All of the snow people are great. What imagination your kids have. Glad all had fun with your surprise March snow.

I think it was the first time I'd seen real snow since I left Utah!! I mean sure, we get "Texas Snow" which is really ice disguised as snow, but not the real stuff. I made a small snowman and a snow angel, and threw snowballs at my puppies. They loved the snow even more than I did. I'd forgotten how beautiful real snowflakes can be. I'm so glad you guys got to enjoy the snow too. As usual, great pics!!

I love the dual sided snowman! In all my years of snow-sculpture, I don't remember ever creating such a marvel?
You guys are great!

I can't believe that you guys got snow. That's awesome. We're snow-free and beautiful.
People say that the weather in Utah is crazy, but Utah has nothing on Texas. Seriously.
I love and miss Texas. Wave at the big blue sky for me!

I just noticed on the picture with Emily and Uncle Jonathan and Smash in a snowball fight, one of the snowballs looks like a heart!!
