Smash soared through his State competition last Saturday.
He placed 2nd on floor and 3rd on parallel bars.
He and his Eagle teammates had a great competition.
Way to go Smash! It is so very thrilling to see you working hard to attain your goals, and watch you have so much fun at the same time.
As soon as the meet was over, we met up with Nathan and about 200 or so church youth from the area.
A conference was being held for our youth ages 14-18; during which Nathan involved them in part of his Eagle project.
(We wore our team Eagle shirts from the gym meet to Nathan's eagle project, everyone thought that I had made shirts for the occasion. Fun.) (Nathan getting together cans for his CAN-do Eagle Project.)
The youth brought non-perishable items and canned food to benefit a local food pantry. While at the conference, they also took a couple of hours to go door to door and collect even more canned food for donation. Once they had collected as much as was possible during that time, they met back at the church and had a can sculpting contest. The sculpting was just for fun. Once the sculptures were judged, the cans were boxed and loaded onto the truck. We do not have a final tally yet, but believe that the kids collected and donated around 3000 canned food items along with some other items as well.
The entire day was wonderfully rewarding and fulfilling, thanks to our Eagles (and a lot of other great folks!).
Ashton: You look great in your gymnastic's uniform. Actually you look "buff". I noticed your medals. You must have done really well. Well congratulations on doing so well.
Emi and Nathan: That looks like quite an Eagle Project. I've had enought Eagle Projects to make me a Silver Beaver or something. Actually I have five eagle pins. I should wear them more often. They were earned with a lot of time and effort. I'm proud of all of my sons. I'm proud of my only daughter, also.

This was such a rewarding day! Ashton worked so hard to prepare himself for the meet. I'm amazed at how much he can do at such a young age.
Nathan also worked very hard and did a marvelous job of coordinating his project. I am so grateful for how many people this food will help.
Mar, you did an excellent job capturing this in word and pictures!
