'Tis the night before school and all through our home,
not a child of mine is sleeping, not even a gnome.
The backpacks are hung in the hallway with care,
in hopes that each backpack can last for the yare. (year in Texan)
The kids are not snuggling down in their beds,
their joking about visions of teachers in their heads.
And I in my flip-flops and Jon in his tie,
are begging the children to sleep before we die.
More rapid than Eagles, the summer has flown,
with our summer adventures - we've definitely grown.
"We're ready!" they say with a twinkle in each eye,
I push back the tears for tomorrow - - I may cry.
Their excitement is contagious, to spoil it would be a shame,
so with happiness and vigor, I call them by name.
On Nathan! On Emily! Smash and Meg, have a ball!
Dash away, dash away, dash away - - y'all!
I love this!
Thank you Mar for all you have done to get the children ready for school.
They are so excited!

Ok...too cute! I have had you on my mind for some time now because I know how hard back to school time is for you. Keep your beak up mama bird. They always come home!

Marilyn: you are quite a gem. There were times with five active boys that I was ready for school time. However, it was a lot more difficult with Elizabeth.
