Happy birthday Grandma Joan!
70!
Time sure does fly...
it seems like only a couple of years ago - -Jonathan and I were in our first year of marriage
and you were turning 50.
I remember the not-too-happy look on your face when your friends brought by black balloons and wanted to pick you up in a hearse. Funny memories.
20 years later, a 70th birthday, all of your children home to celebrate with you.
Your family has certainly grown in the last 20 years.
15 grandchildren who all adore you and the blessing of two more on the way!
And a husband who dotes over you.
Happy, happy birthday. Is it appropriate to wish you 70 more? :)
You are loved.
* A sweet little story from Megan just this morning:
We were in the kitchen talking about Grandma Joan and her birthday.
Megan asked, "She was born in December? I always think of her being born in May or something."
I tell her that Grandma was in fact born in December and ask why she thought it was May (or something).
She then said, "Well, she is so joyful!"
I ask, "You don't think she could be joyful if she were born in December?"
She then replied, "Well, December is so dark and cold, May is so sunny and warm, it feels happy like her!"
Happy birthday Mom! Maybe you can celebrate again in May!

Megan is right. May birthdays are the best! I'm glad that somebody other than me recognizes it.
Yay for May!! ;)

To Karen: I agree that May is a happy month, but nothing beats a September birthday...
