AS I LEFT Nathan at BYU and began my return to the hospital in Orem, I was feeling rather down.
I decided to drive an old, very familiar and favorite path. One which I traveled many, many times in my early adulthood.
I stopped the (rental) truck in a familiar spot, got out and walked to clear my head, drain my tear ducts and return my rapid pulse to normal.
This lovely spot did the trick.
It revived me just enough to take care of Grandma for the rest of the night.
The night was cool, the air was crisp, and the colors of the sunset were absolutely lovely.
Familiarity.
Peace.
Gratitude for simple blessings.
Absolutely beautiful and serene. I love that temple because of where it is situated, up on a hill overlooking everything. Glad you got a moment to ponder and get those emotions under control. How is Grandma doing?

Beautiful. And what a wonderful reminder that, although our children may leave the nest for a while, families are forever.
