I'll never forget the first time we saw cotton as we drove through the panhandle of TX (many moons ago!) and the kids thought there was snow on the ground. I don't remember the temperature at the time but I want to say it was in the 60's at least. They were so insistent about the snow that we had to stop and let them experience a cotton field (and cotton) up close and personal.
On our way home from our Thanksgiving travels, we were once again passing cotton field after cotton field. Some of them are quite pretty!
As we passed by quite a few fields, the thought occurred to me that some of you might not have had the opportunity to see a cotton field before...so naturally we began to look for a fabulous looking field. By the time I thought to stop, however, we had passed all of the fields full of cotton and we were now approaching those which had been harvested.
But that could be cool to see too...so we stopped.
Ever wondered what a cotton picker looked like? (And this one is a John Deere! My dad loves John Deere).
Below is a little cotton still hanging on with part of the bale in the background:
Here is a bale of cotton:
This bale has a large tarp covering the top, not all of them do. The bales are about the size of a semi-truck trailer (huge!). How many t-shirts would that make?!
So cool!! I'm not sure if I've ever seen a cotton field. (You'd think that I'd remember something like that though.)
And great pictures as usual!!

On our way to Texas our older two thought the cotton was snow....
As we traveled back north, our younger two thought snow was cotton...
