SERIOUSLY.
Really. Seriously. We want to wish you a very, merry Christmas...
Smash touched Em's collar bone...yep, it landed her on the floor. If you see her, give it a try, it works E V E R Y time. :)
Alright-y then, back to business.
Our Christmas Eve:
We kept with tradition and had our nice (Italian) dinner on Christmas Eve.
Following dinner we read from Luke 2 (and acted out the Nativity story, of course!). This year Jonathan veered from his typical role as the very important donkey and played the part of Joseph (Smash did not want to take on this role since Nathan usually plays him). Emily was Mary again; Meg was the angel once again - she secured that role as soon as Thanksgiving was over! Smash played the donkey and shepherds.
The donkey looked a little nervous at first, ha, ha.
The donkey had a little trouble channeling his inner shepherd. He sure can get his sisters to crack up though.
Eventually we were able to get back to the reenactment...
which was fabulous! (As well as entertaining). Thanks everybody!
We missed the folks who had hoped to join us and couldn't. We missed our usual Joseph, Nathan, most of all!
(If you want to see our last Christmas Eve with Nathan (Marilyn and Karen were here too) click here).
We did, however, have a wonderful evening - with really good food, a great feeling while remembering the birth of our Savior and lots of fun together!
Before bed, the kids opened their Christmas pj's and presents* from each other. They are always so excited to give to each other. I think they look forward to giving each other gifts more than anything! We have a tradition of opening one gift on Christmas Eve (which is usually pj's) but these kids wear me down...how can we NOT let them open each others gifts when they are so excited to give?!
*Each year they draw names, to give secretly to a sibling. I'm not sure exactly why we do this every year...they always give to all of their siblings any way. But they love it and want to keep doing it, so we do!
So, this year they opened gifts from their secret giver on Christmas Eve and then on Christmas day, they opened the gifts from each other.
I love our crazy little bunch!
Aunt Mar, one day, I want to see a photo presentation of the Lloyd family Christmas Eves through the years. How fun to be able to see how everyone has grown and changed (though, don't the parts usually stay the same?).
And hey! Nathan will be back next Christmas to reprise his role as Joseph. (Though, your Joseph may still have a bit of a Spanish accent. . .)

LOVED seeing your Christmas pics! So, do you make the same Italian meal on Christmas Eve, or just make it Italian?
