and sadly on the ground.
Our beautiful mountains are on fire again! This is the second big fire this season and this is too early in the season. Not that there is a good time for a forest fire - but typically the fire danger would come later in the summer when it is hot and dry. (Hotter and drier).
The fires make for beautiful sunsets but that is the only beauty that can come from fires of this magnitude.
Day 2:
Photos of the view from where we live.
Day 5:
Over 46,000 acres burning, plumes reaching 35,000 feet high, 1 person dead, 10% contained.

The other evening Megan and I were at a Lacrosse end of the season party and some of the folks there had evacuated their homes. Really scary.
Jonathan's boss had to also evacuate but I believe they are back in their home now. (Jon has been gone all week so not certain about the update).
Day 7: the fire has grown to over 52,000 acres. Many structures have been lost in the fire with more homes still in danger.
Today it is over 55,000 acres burning.
What a horror. And then the air gets so dirty too. Great pictures though.

Those pictures are beautiful, but so scary. I hope you guys are able to stay safe during all of this.

This is a very powerful fire, and likely to get more challenging this week as temperatures are going to be in the high 90s with low humidity.

The fire is so horrible for all of the trees up in the mountains. It makes me so sad :( At least it makes pretty pictures at sunsets!
