Nathan and Diana:
When Nathan updated his Facebook profile with "in a relationship" I got an urgent text from my niece, Marilyn. She asked, "Nathan is "in a relationship?!?!?!?!?!?!" (Marilyn cracks me up! Love her!)
Immediately I thought, "Oh dear. He didn't put that on FB, did he?"
The whole family had a similar reaction, until we saw that Diana said the same on her FB wall. (Then we were much relieved).
Since Nathan declared to the world that he has a girlfriend, I thought I could write about it here also. However, I did ask his permission first. And he asked Diana...both said yes. Yay!
Nathan had several reasons for posting his news on FB (he shared those reasons with me).
BUT I feel his number one reason is he is just so happy with Diana that he wants to shout it out for everyone to hear and in today's society, that means FB.
Nathan told me she does nice things for him and shared a couple of examples with me and then he told me that Diana reminds him to stand up straight (I hope she succeeds in getting that to happen!). When I laughed a little at that, he said, "No, really mom, if she didn't care about me, she wouldn't remind me to do that! I appreciate it."
Diana has already been seen on my blog before; in this post). She is standing next to Nathan in the first photo of that post but that is just a happy coincidence, they were not dating or anything at the time.
Here is a little more about that weekend that I did not share at the time:
Right after Nathan, Emi, and the others left my parent's home, I called to see how things went. My mom and dad were impressed by the entire group.
My mom talked about how fun it was to talk with Mary (Emi's cute friend) because she is from the area where I grew up. We do love people from the NW!
My mom mentioned some of the other kids in the group as well and talked about the things they did and what happened while they were visiting.
Then mom told me about Diana. She really liked her. She talked a lot about how kind Diana was to them (my parents) and that she spoke to them in English (that meant a lot to my folks since they don't speak Spanish). Diana shared some of her educational goals, etc., with my folks. Mom really enjoyed getting to know Diana and thought she was lovely and intelligent as well as kind.
Sidenote: When I called mom to tell her that Nathan and Diana are now dating, she said, "Oh! I liked her!" :) We knew that.
After talking with mom I called Emily to ask her about the group and I asked a little more about Diana, thinking she might be a good friend for Emily to have... :)
because moms think like that.
Everything Emily said about Diana was so positive and wonderful! She loves her. They were already friends.
When Emily finished telling me about the trip and each of the kids who went, I asked (sort of jokingly), "Why isn't Nathan dating her (meaning Diana)?"
Emi wondered the same thing.
This will come as news to Nathan when he reads this; I never mentioned any of that to him. (I don't believe Em has either).
Nathan and Diana have a great group of friends that they get together with on a regular basis. But it wasn't until recently, after he took Diana and some other friends climbing, that Nathan asked Diana out on a real date. Once that happened, it seems they have been together constantly.
Her family lives in Provo now so Nathan is getting to know them really well also.
Diana is thinking of serving a mission and Nathan said he would (gladly) be supportive if she does serve. A mission would be a blessing to her and her family.
Whatever will be, will be...
there is no way to know what will happen in the future.
But for now, I am happy that Nathan is enjoying life, having great experiences and is happy, happy, happy.
Well isn't this interesting. And exciting! Keep us posted. They look so cute cuddled around that $2.99 grocery special :) Seriously though, they are darling.

I love Diana too! She is so sweet and nice and made Emily and I feel so welcome on our little trip as our spanish skills were not up to par. I'm so happy for her and Nathan!!! :)
