We are in a swing state this election. We haven't ever been in a swing state before. The states we have lived in have been strongly republican or democrat (including our time here in CO years ago).
While Jenney was here, I asked her if TX had political ad breaks now, like we do here in CO. She said she wasn't aware of any.
I now realize, there probably isn't a need for that in TX. They would not be inundated with ads the way the swing states have been.
All of the ads are not helpful in my opinion. They do not tell us anything of worth about the candidates, whether it is the candidate approving the ad or the one it is supposed to smear. Rather than talk about what they don't like about each other or what other people don't like about the candidate, I prefer to hear what they believe from their own lips. Actually, I like the debates a lot but I do prefer when they talk about what they know and not about each other...I'd rather "hear it from the horses mouth."
Several weeks ago while I was working in the kitchen and listening to the news, I heard some elevator-type music (the younger generation might not know what that is...) and wondered why. I walked over to the TV and saw, for the first time, a "political ad break."
It was such a Colorado thing to do. Beautiful photos of CO nature were streaming across the screen. Photo after photo, each one as beautiful as the next: lakes, streams, meadows, mountains, animals and birds, sunsets, sunrises and CO blue skies. I stood there staring at the screen until it was over. And it gave me a little laugh, you have to love Colorado. We really do live in a beautiful state - Colorado is proud of their beauty.
I'm sure many of you have seen this video already. This little girl, from Fort Collins, CO, must not have seen enough political ad breaks. The video was taken after listening to NPR on the radio while she and her mom were riding in the car together.
It just cracks me up but at the same time makes me want to cry for her.
(Remember this is "Bronco" country, ha, ha!)
Sometimes I feel the same way as her and I am not even around all that campaigning! .... I bet the political ad breaks are nice :)
