These two cute people:
My mom had a follow-up appointment today and I was able to meet them at the hospital where she had her surgery.
Her hip is healing so well! It is amazing how well it is doing, really, quite miraculous. She has full range of motion, no pain, and can do more with this new metal hip, than she has been able to do in years! She wishes she had had the surgery long ago...but as the Dr. said today, if she had had the surgery years ago, she would have been back now for this new (and much improved) hip replacement procedure.
He didn't have to cut any of the muscles in her leg, so her down time and recovery have been completely different than that of hip replacement patients in the past.
I do wish she could have gone in for the surgery at least a year or two earlier, though. If she had gone in before her hip had caused her so much pain and brought on other issues, I believe her overall health and recovery would have been better.
But today she was doing well and I am really thankful for that! My dad is doing well also and he is happy that she is improving.
Tomorrow will be a rough day for her; the day after travel always is, but I made several meals for them and sent those home so mom and dad will be able to eat well and without effort. Hopefully that will help her to recover a little more quickly. She really does better when she has the proper nutrition.
It means the world to me to be able to spend time with them and be able to help them in some small way. I am especially grateful that I am well enough and have the means to do those things. Such blessings!!
I am so glad to hear that your Mom's hip replacement was successful! My brother use to sell those and he has said there is a world of difference between the hip replacements they do now versus just a few years ago, like you said. What a blessing!
